Let Me Introduce You: Jocie Sinauer and Red Chair on Warren

And now the part about shopping in Hudson. As I have said, Hudson is a hot design destination (since my last post I have been back once more to pick up a chair) and there is truly something for everyone. Fine antiques, mid-century modern pieces, vintage wares and unusual curiosities - Hudson's main street shops have it all. My personal favorite is Red Chair on Warren.

With 17 years in the business, owner Jocie Sinauer's trained eye and abundant creativity have made Red Chair a standout in this decorator's mecca. On regular trips to Europe, Jocie brings home a selection of (mostly) Belgian and French furniture, accessories and linens. Regularly updated inventory and ever changing displays insure the shop always feels fresh and offers up new treasures.

A lovely courtyard behind the shop displays outdoor furniture and garden accessories.

Red Chair on Warren is located at 606 Warren Street in Hudson, New York. Find it on Facebook and visit the website for detailed information. Many shops in Hudson are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so late in the week or over the weekend are the best times to visit.

  1. Phyllis, I have been wanting to take a trip to Hudson--love the whole Hudson River Painting era, and so was happy to see your blog about Olana a few months ago. In October Country Living magazine there is a brief write-up about Hudson NY and the shopping---and they mention The Red Chair as well!! Definitely need to plan a trip! Thanks Cindy

  6. Thanks for the timely post! We are driving up along the Hudson as we head to Troy for my husband's college reunion. We are definitely going to stop in Hudson. I tried to book a room at The Inn, but no rooms available.

I will check out Red Chair!

    1. Hi Catherine, try The Barlow - that is where I stayed on my last visit; it was very comfortable and in the center of town. You can book online. All best, Phyllis

Oh, if only my son still lived in NY, I'd certainly make this a must see. Thanks for sharing, there are so many items in your post I would love to see in person.

    1. Hi Steve, yes, she used to be in Peterborough and moved to NY five years ago. You really should go - it is a nice getaway. Stay at the Barlow and have dinner at The Crimson Sparrow. xo

  11. Oh goodness! I'd be in trouble had I been with you Phyllis.. Love the French/Swedish pieces. The fabric and style of the chairs at the top would be perfect for my home. I like the soft softness and the neutrals with the wood pieces. I am going to check the website. Thank you for sharing! xxleslie

  12. Great collectibles! The mortar in pic 9 brings back memories of my childhood in Jamaica. We had coffee trees and when the beans were ready, my grandmother would pound them in a similar mortar in preparation for straining. Loving all these pieces.

  17. What a fantastic shop Phyllis. It wouldn't take me very long to start loading up the car with goodies from Red Chair. That pestle and mortar would be the first thing to go in my basket.
    Have a wonderful week.
