Får Fäll - Swedish For What I Need Now

In the course of my fixation with Scandinavian interiors I have noticed how fur pelts are often included in the decoration of living spaces - thrown over a chair or sofa (indoors or out,) across a bed, or even on the floor. They look fabulously cozy to one who lives in a cold climate and is easily chilled. I asked a Swedish friend if there was a word or name for this accessory. From Sweden, where she is currently visiting family and antique shopping for her new house in the states, she replied by email: Får Fäll. Don't ask me how to pronounce it, but here are a few examples.

My elder daughter's Spring sport is crew. The team trains on the Connecticut river beginning at 5:30 in the morning. When we left the house today it was 23 degrees, so while I would love one of these on the chair by my fireplace, right now I need one in the car.

  1. Geez, Phyllis, 5:30 AM? Really? That's way to early for anything. BTW, I never knew that term! Definitely a very Nordic look!! Loi

    1. I agree! And it was snowing this morning - very lightly, but still, snow in April. I'd like to upholster my carseat with one of these.
